Central Healthy Start
Healthy Start is a voluntary program whose goal is to reduce infant mortality, reduce the number of low birth weight babies and improve health and developmental outcomes. Healthy Start provides a universal screening tool to identify pregnant women and infants who are at risk for an adverse health outcome. The services that Healthy Start offers are free to pregnant women and children, up to age 3; and are based on needs, not income. Available services include education and support in childbirth breastfeeding, parenting, tobacco cessation, counseling and women’s health. Central Healthy Start serves Citrus, Hernando, Lake and Sumter Counties.
