Upcoming NCFCCC meeting to focus on community-based solutions to cancer

GAINESVILLE, Fla.(Nov. 14, 2012)— The rate of cancer in North Central Florida is nearly 28 percent higher than the rate for the state of Florida. To be a part of a community-based solution to this issue, join the North Central Florida Cancer Control Collaborative (NCFCCC) at its next meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012.

The meeting will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Senior Recreation Center located at 5701 NW 34th St. Gainesville.  Refreshments will be provided.

The overall purpose of the meeting will be to discuss how we, as one community, can create solutions to the cancer disparities in North Central Florida. NCFCCC will also address the latest cancer data for the region, NCFCCC updates, solution-based strategic planning and upcoming events.

Healthcare providers, government agencies, and community and faith-based organizations are encouraged to attend. The general public is also welcome.

NCFCCC is a community-based collaboration administered by WellFlorida Council. The purpose of NCFCCC is to improve access to cancer care and reduce the burden of cancer in North Central Florida. To learn more about NCFCCC, please visit www.ncfcancercontrol.org.
