With the end of enrollment looming, Santa Fe College is holding an Affordable Care Act Information Week from Monday through Thursday.

Health care marketplace navigators will be in the breezeways of Buildings S and P to answer questions and assist students, faculty and staff who are interested in enrolling in an ACA insurance plan.

Health care navigators, insurance brokers and insurance agents will be on hand Saturday to help people without healthcare coverage enroll for insurance through an Affordable Care Act plan.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Wooly, 20 N. Main St. in downtown Gainesville.

There will also be a health fair with blood pressure screenings, diabetes screenings, nutrition advice and an “ask the pharmacist” feature.

Healthy Start of North Central Florida is now offering a free parenting program in Alachua, Bradford and Putnam Counties. The Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program helps parents and caregivers:

• Learn about their child’s development
• Gain one-on-one parenting support
• Connect with other parents and resources
• Address developmental delays and/or health issues
• Access books and educational toys for their child

More than 29 million people in this country have diabetes.

Suwannee County resident Ron Bovin is one of them.

Bovin, 67, was first diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes about 15 years ago. He dedicated himself to losing weight and eating healthier, and eventually he no longer had to take medication.
